W.H.I.M. Nominations
W.H.I.M. Nominations
The Women's History in the Making (W.H.I.M.) Awards Gala is an annual fundraiser, a formal event crafted to honor and recognize youth, organizations, and community leaders who contribute to the advancement and empowerment of young women.
In a society where mainstream media often highlights what we'd prefer not to see, our team at A Woman’s Standard is dedicated to honoring leaders and young women who consistently uphold high standards and values across different aspects of their lives.
Every year, we acknowledge leaders who embody our event's theme and actively contribute to advancing the mission of empowering the next generation of young women. Awards are given in the following categories:
Youth Award
Ubuntu Award
Community Leader Award
Community Organization Award
Nominations
Our process starts with someone nominating a potential leader to be recognized during our W.H.I.M Awards Gala. Nominators share why they think the leader should be recognized at our annual event and speak on their character.
The Nomination Process
Application
To be fully considered, nominees must accept their nominations by completing our W.H.I.M. Nominee Profile Form. A W.H.I.M. committee member will reach out via phone and email to ensure interest and form submission.
Interviews
Upon form submission, a W.H.I.M. committee member will contact each nominee for a recorded phone interview, which will then be sent to our judging panel. Each interview will be scored, and the top-scoring nominees will receive awards. Honorees will be revealed at our annual W.H.I.M. Awards Gala in March.
Recognition
Every nominee and honoree is invited to participate in our annual W.H.I.M. Awards Gala held every March, an event dedicated to acknowledging their contributions and impact on young women.
